These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Runic Research LLC (“Runic Research,” “we,” “us”) governing your use of the AutoBox apps, websites, and related services (together, “AutoBox” or the “Service”). By downloading, accessing, or using AutoBox, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who can use AutoBox
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an AutoBox account and purchase a subscription. A household account holder may add athlete profiles for others in their household, including minors, and is responsible for that data and for those athletes’ use of the Service. AutoBox is not directed to children under 13, and children should not create their own accounts.
2. Your account
You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. Tell us promptly at support@autobox.fit if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide.
3. Subscriptions, billing, and renewal
AutoBox is offered as an auto-renewing subscription. Current pricing and any free-trial terms are shown at the point of purchase. Two billing paths are available:
- Apple in-app purchase. When you subscribe through an Apple app, payment is charged to your Apple ID and the subscription is governed by Apple’s standard terms in addition to these Terms. Your subscription automatically renews for successive periods at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings; deleting the app does not cancel it. If you began with a free trial, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Web billing. When you subscribe on the web, payment is processed by Stripe and your subscription automatically renews at the then-current price until you cancel. Manage or cancel your web subscription from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Except where required by law or expressly stated at purchase, payments are non-refundable and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial periods. Refund requests for Apple purchases are handled by Apple. We may change subscription pricing on a going-forward basis; any change applies to renewals after we give you notice.
4. License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use AutoBox for your own non-commercial fitness use. We reserve all rights not expressly granted. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or create derivative works of the Service except as permitted by law.
5. Your content
AutoBox lets you create and store content — including workouts you write or paste, results, weights, personal records, notes, recordings, and athlete profiles (“Your Content”). You keep ownership of Your Content. You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display Your Content solely to provide, secure, support, and improve the Service for you, including by using service providers described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the rights and permissions needed to submit it, including content about another athlete.
AutoBox may prepare a video-highlight preview entirely on your device. When you open Share Studio, you request that AutoBox temporarily process selected video frames, a workout summary, and timing signals through our cloud service and AI provider to direct the highlight. The full recording is not uploaded, and we do not persist the uploaded contact sheet after processing the request.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or circumvent any security or access controls, or use the Service to build a competing product.
- Upload content that infringes others’ rights or is unlawful, harmful, or abusive.
- Share, resell, or provide your subscription to people outside your household.
7. Health and fitness disclaimer
AutoBox is a fitness tool, not a medical service. Exercise carries inherent risks, including serious injury, illness, disability, and death. AutoBox does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, or emergency monitoring. Workouts, scaling, weight suggestions, heart-rate displays, rep counts, and other recommendations are for general fitness and informational purposes only and may not be safe or appropriate for you. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning or changing an exercise program, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, take medication, or are returning from illness or injury. Stop exercising and seek appropriate medical care if you experience chest pain, faintness, severe shortness of breath, unusual symptoms, or injury.
8. Assumption of risk and release
You voluntarily choose whether and how to perform each workout and knowingly assume all risks arising from exercise and fitness activities. These risks include equipment failure; slips and falls; overexertion; improper technique, loading, scaling, spotting, or supervision; inaccurate or delayed app output; and the acts or omissions of other people. You are responsible for assessing the workout and environment, selecting appropriate movements and loads, maintaining safe equipment and clear space, using qualified in-person coaching or supervision when needed, and stopping when conditions are unsafe.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release and agree not to hold Runic Research and its owners, employees, contractors, and agents liable for claims arising from your voluntary participation in fitness activities using AutoBox, including claims based on ordinary negligence. This release does not apply to gross negligence, reckless or intentional misconduct, or any liability that cannot lawfully be waived. If you use AutoBox with another athlete, you must ensure they understand the activity and its risks. A parent or guardian’s agreement does not waive a minor’s rights where applicable law prohibits that waiver.
9. Automated features and tracking accuracy
AutoBox uses automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to parse or adapt workouts, count reps, suggest weights or scaling, and create video highlights. Automated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable. Review it before acting and do not rely on AutoBox where an error, missed alert, or delay could cause injury or other harm. Heart-rate and watch features are not medical devices and must not be used for diagnosis or emergency monitoring.
10. Third-party devices and services
AutoBox integrates with third-party hardware and services (for example, Apple Watch and Concept2 equipment). We are not responsible for third-party devices or services, and their availability may change.
11. Changes to the Service
We are actively developing AutoBox and may add, change, or remove features. We may suspend or discontinue parts of the Service; where a change materially reduces a paid feature, you may cancel as described above.
12. Termination
You may stop using AutoBox and delete your account at any time from your account settings or the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others or to us. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.
13. Disclaimers
Except where prohibited by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Runic Research will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
15. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Except where applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you cannot waive under the law where you live.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. When we make material changes we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use AutoBox after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
